DIMO comprehensively ousts Hayleys

DIMO claimed a comfortable win against Hayleys in their annual cricket encounter played at Colts Grounds recently. 

The match was played for the DIMO-Hayleys Chairmen’s Trophy, which was organised under the guidance of DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage and Hayleys Chairman Mohan Pandithage. Hayleys batted first and were all out for 149 in 35.4 overs. Aravinda Premaratne took 3 wickets for 28 runs. DIMO reached 150 for 2 wickets in 27.2 overs with Lakkana Jayasekara scoring 80 and Jason Perera scoring 39. DIMO won the match by eight wickets.

Lakkana Jayasekara of DIMO walked away with the Best Batsman and Man of the Match awards, while Aravinda Premaratne of DIMO was awarded the Best Bowler accolade. Ramesh Mendis of DIMO was named the Best Fielder. The DIMO team was led by Matheesha Perera and managed by Lasantha Jayawardena.

DIMO will be participating in the Mercantile ‘A’ Division cricket tournament this year for the first time. DIMO became the runners-up at the Mercantile ‘B’ Division cricket tournament last year. Sri Lanka’s Vice-Captain Dinesh Chandimal too is an employee of DIMO and is currently on official duty with the Sri Lanka cricket team.
