Double for Spain

Spain women’s outfit followed their men’s by securing the very last berth for the Rio Olympics Rugby Sevens at the women’s repechage tournament which was worked off at the UCD Bowl in Dublin last weekend.
Spain beat Russia 19/12 in the Cup finals. Both Spain (men’s and women’s) teams secured the last berth for the Rio Rugby sevens which will take place in August this year.
Top seeds Russia, who had been the stand-out team on day one, scoring 26 tries in topping Pool A. Asian teams Kazakhstan lived up to expectations when they topped their group while China was placed number 2 and Hong Kong number three in their respective groups on the opening day of the tournament.
Kazakhstan who qualified for the Cup Quarter’s beat Samoa easily but lost out to Spain in Semi’s. Hong Kong, determined to prove a point after missing out on the Cup championship Cup lost out to Cook Island 15/12 in a thriller in the Challenge Shield finals. Over all Asian teams Kazakhstan (4), China (5) and Hong Kong (8) ended the tournament on high note giving Asian Women’s rugby glamour of hopes for the future.
