DPR Kart Track opens while Shanaka Clay proves mettle in Europe

The Ceylon Motor Sports Club unveiled the latest Go Kart Track in Bandaragama, tipped to be every motor racing aspirant’s pitstoff. The track which is 800 metres in length is located at Bandaragama, 30 minutes away from Kottawa.



The Go Kart Track which is in line with the required international standards was constructed by David Pieris, one of Sri Lanka’s most decorated drivers of yesteryear. The track is Sri Lanka’s second Go Kart Track and is expected to be open to the public soon.

Kiddie karting is available for children under the age of nien years with a track of 200 m and ‘Baby karts’, while the ‘Rental Karting’ will be on a 500 m circuit.

A category is also being created, where competitors could also own their own karts and race on an 800 m circuit.

Enthusiasts who wish to have more details, may contact the Ceylon Motor Sports Club,  on [email protected].  The Ceylon Motor Sports Club, is also negotiating with leasing companies to obtain facilities for competitors who wish to own their own kart.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka’s Karting driver Shanka Clay competed Internationally in the KF3 and junior Rotax  in Europe, under a competition licence issued by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club.

He took part in the Under 15 CIK – FIA academy trophy held in Pirtugal, France and Bahrain.
