ETI thrashes ComBank in Mercantile ‘B’ Division opener

Edirisinghe Trust Investments Limited (ETI) thrashed Commercial Bank by a massive margin of 168 runs in their first appearance in the Mercantile Cricket Association B Division tournament, on Wednesday February 16 at the Colts Cricket Ground.

ETI skipper won the toss and decided to bat on a batsman friendly Colts wicket and his batsmen dominated. D K Ranaweera was the most successful with a century (100) while D Dahanayaka contributed a fine half-century (57). Commercial Bank’s bowlers could not offer much resistance and the ETI total was 328 for the loss of six wickets at the end of 50 overs.

S Fernando (3 for 81) was the best among the Com Bank bowlers. In reply, the ETI bowlers left no room for errors and their opponents were bundled out for just 160 runs in 38.5 overs.

M Silva fell for 49 while I Ratnayake (3 for 21) and R Laksiri (3 for 22) bagged three wickets each.
