Etisalat Sponsors ‘Club Championship 2012’ in Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

Etisalat Sri Lanka further strengthened its support towards Sri Lanka Golf by entering into a partnership with the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) to sponsor ‘The Club Championship 2012,’ which will be the biggest golf tournament hosted by the club, from 26 to 28 October.

Commenting peaking on the tie-up, NEGC President Vernon Tissera said: “This is indeed a momentous occasion in our history. I am confident that this partnership will be a long lasting one and supported by the golfing community who will benefit from this. The club is proud to partner with Etisalat for this championship and we commend their efforts to support the sport in Sri Lanka.”

Etisalat is the first private organisation to partner with all four golf clubs in Sri Lanka namely, NEGC, The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), The Victoria Golf Club (VGC) and The Eagles’ Golf links.

Etisalat Sri Lankan Director/CEO Dumindra Ratnayake said: “Etisalat has always been committed to Sri Lankan sports and the development of true sportsmanship. We have particularly focused on golf as Sri Lanka has remarkable local talent and we are honoured to support the men and woman committed to the sports.”

“This partnership with Etisalat is indeed a step in the right direction and a definite lift for the NEGC,” stated Usha de Silva, Lady Captain NEGC. “With the support and professionalism brought in by Etisalat Sri Lanka, not only to the NEGC but also to Sri Lanka’s golfing community, we will be able to conduct bigger, better tournaments and attract more players.”

The Championship is open to all NEGC members in both the men’s and women’s categories. Over 100 golfers are expected to participate in this annual event and will walk away with the latest Etisalat tablets and awards.
