Calcutta/Mumbai (The Telegraph): The Kolkata Knight Riders have zeroed in on a new marketing catchline — “New Dawn. New Knights.”
The emphasis on ‘new’ is understandable as the Knights, one of the most glamourous outfits of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are yet to be crowned the champions. After four editions of the IPL, a fourth-place finish, achieved last year, is the best that the Knights have achieved. A new dawn is definitely what they need.
Bollywood star and the Knights’ principal owner Shah Rukh Khan echoed a similar thought after a promotional event in Mumbai, on Monday. “The new team we put together last year made us proud with the refreshing approach, winning attitude and professionalism they brought to KKR. Add to that our new coach and our new players this year… I’m excited about the upcoming season,” Shah Rukh said.
“We have a new coach in Trevor Bayliss now... Dav Whatmore was fantastic, but he has other commitments. We have a commitment to get young boys in the team. We have one such youngster in West Indian Sunil Narine who will form a good bowling combination with Iqbal (Abdulla) and Shakib-ul-Hasan,” he added.
