FITIS fellowship via cricket

The ICT industry annual cricket tournament organised by the hardware chapter of the Federation of IT industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) was held recently with 104 teams participating before a crowd of 2000 visitors. The tournament took place at CCC Grounds for the eighth consecutive year.

Powernet (Pvt) Ltd., emerged as champions of the tournament followed by Caddy Shak (Pvt) Ltd., as the first runners up. The third runners up were the team representing John Keells Office Automation.

Those who stole the show were Saman Sampath (Powernet Pvt. Ltd.) who became the best batsman followed by Akila Hasaranga (Powernet Pvt. Ltd.) and Sajith (Caddy Shak Pvt. Ltd.) who clinched the awards for the best fielder and the best bowler respectively.

The Man of the Match award was bagged by Saman Sampath ( Powernet Pvt. Ltd.) while Chandana (Caddy Shack) became the man of the tournament. The winners were given away trophies, certificates, cash prizes and plaques.

In addition to the cricket tournament, several other events full of entertainment and variety also were underway such as the ICT queen contest, magic show, papare bands, fun park for kids, DJ music, papare bands and avurudu games.

The ICT queen contest captured the attention of the audience by the beauty, glamour and elegance it showcased. Samadhi Gunasekera representing 3M Lanka Pvt Ltd. was crowned the ICT queen of the year 2013.

The distinguished guests who graced the occasion were: FITIS Chairman T Suresh, President FITIS hardware Chapter Chinthaka Wijewickrema, Chariman, Organising Committee Sajith Navaz, Vice President FITIS Hardware Chapter Derrick Ferdinandus and President FITIS Training Chapter Dr.Kithsiri Manchanayake.
