Godahewa resigns from Lanka Hospitals Board

Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, who is also the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman, has resigned from the directorate of The Lanka Hospitals Corporation Plc with effect from 15 November, according to a filing by the company released yesterday by the CSE. No reasons were given for the resignation by the company. Godahewa joined the Lanka Hospitals Board in August 2009, when he was a Director of Seylan Bank Plc and the Urban Development Authority. He remains a Director of the Board of the UDA. The resignation comes five months after Godahewa (who was to retire by rotation in term of Article 85 of the Association of the company) was re-elected as Board member at the Lanka Hospitals AGM held in June 2013. The Lanka Hospitals Board of Directors comprises Gotabaya Rajapaksa (Chairman), Roshini Cabraal (Deputy Chairperson), Dr. D. Fernando, A.M.M. de Alwis, Dr. G. Wickramasinghe, P.A. Lionel, Dr. N.N.A.P.B.C. Wijesiriwardena, Dr. Y.D.N. Jayathilaka and nominees looking after interests of Fortis Global (which holds a 28.6% stake) M.M. Singh (D.K. Hsu Chin as Alternate) and S. Godhwani (with S. Puri as Alternate).
