The postponed Governor’s Trophy-CRIB Cricket Sixes 2015 is back on track. This event for banks and financial institutions island-wide, conducted annually by the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (CRIB), was to be held on 8 and 9 August 2015 but was postponed due to the country’s parliamentary elections.
The fourth edition, which will field 104 teams, will now be held on 14 and 15 May 2016 at the P. Sara Oval, commencing from 7.30 a.m. on both days.
The men’s tournament has attracted 68 teams comprising 33 banks and 35 finance companies. The women’s tournament will feature 36 teams comprising 17 banks and 19 finance companies.
The 103 matches to be played will be conducted simultaneously on four pitches, during the two days.
The special awards on offer are for the Best Batter (men and women) Best Bowler (men and women), Man of the Tournament, Man of the Final and Woman of the Tournament.
In the previous tournament held on 11 and 12 October 2014 at the same venue, Nations Trust Bank won the men’s tournament, beating Commercial Credit & Finance; Central Bank of Sri Lanka won the women’s tournament, beating Sri Lanka Mortgage & Investment Bank.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Mahendran, will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony on Saturday and at the post tournament awards presentation ceremony on Sunday.
