Premier clothing company Hameedia inked an agreement with Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday to be the official supplier of formal clothing for the Sri Lankan national men’s and women’s teams, the ’A’ Team, the Provincial T/20 Champions participating in the annual Champions League T20 competition and the Under 19 Team participating in ICC and ACC events for the next three years.
Speaking at the press conference announcing the signing of the agreement, Sri Lanka Cricket Treasurer and Secretary of the Sponsorship Committee Nuski Mohamed said: “Today is a special day for Sri Lanka Cricket as the Hameedia Group enters into a partnership with Sri Lanka Cricket as the Official Formal Clothing Sponsor of the Sri Lanka national cricket teams.”
He added: “This sponsorship will no doubt enhance the brand image of Hameedia when the proud Sri Lankan cricketers, carrying the aspirations of our nation, represent Sri Lanka under the theme one nation, one passion, one team, sporting the colours and logo of Hameedia.
“We’re delighted to be the Official Formal Clothing Sponsor of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Teams,” said Hameedia Managing Director Fouzul Hameed. “Every member of the teams mentioned is a unique brand ambassador for Sri Lanka. They represent their motherland both as individual cricketers and also as a team. Wielding the willow at cricketing pitches around the world, they always come under the spotlight of international publicity and thus need to look their best at all times.”
Hameed, elaborating on the long standing partnership the company has enjoyed with SLC, added: “Hameedia has been an active part of Sri Lanka Cricket over the years and has successfully met all clothing requirements under various captaincies with 100% satisfaction. I myself will personally play a pivotal role in training the teams in the intricacies of etiquette and the diverse demands of total grooming during the sponsorship period.
“Ours is a very strong international track record. We’re thus honoured to share our expertise and professionalism with the members of our cricket teams, to make them look good, stand out, and thus make a statement, during their local and international appearances.”
The agreement was signed by SLC President Jayantha Dharmadasa and Hameedia Managing Director Fouzul Hameed, in the presence of Sri Lanka Captain Angelo Mathews, SLC Treasurer Nuski Mohamed and SLC Acting CEO Ashley de Silva.
