To commemorate its 130th anniversary, Hameed Al Husseini College Colombo will organise a college walk which is open to all past and present students as well as parents.
Hameedians Walk 2014 will be staged on 15 November at 8.00 a.m., beginning at the school premises. The event will feature a number of batches, groups, clubs and societies presenting a unique theme in order to add colour to the walk.
The organising committee of the event said the parade would proceed from the school through Mohamed Zain Mawatha, New Moor Street, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Meeraniya Street, Princes Gate, Grandspass Road, Layardes Broadway Road and Jethawanarama Road before returning once again to the school. Participants are expected to wear specially printed caps and t-shirts for the event during the promenade.
Founded in 1884, Hameed Al Husseini College was the first Muslim school in Sri Lanka and is the largest Muslim educational institution in Sri Lanka with more than 2500 students. The college is situated in the heart of Colombo. (RF)
