Havelock City unveils squash courts

Havelock City, the largest luxury residential development in Sri Lanka, added to its impressive list of features by declaring open its squash courts recently. Built to international standards, the two courts will be accessible to residents as well as the public. The court was opened by of Havelock City Deputy Chairman H. Z. Cassim in an event which was graced by Sri Lanka Squash Federation President Palitha Weerasinghe and its Vice President J B Peiris, along with leading squash coaches. Two exhibition matches featuring male and female players were held with the participation of top national players who have represented the country at the Commonwealth Games, including Sri Lanka’s current national champions Ravidu Laksiri and Mihiliya Methsarani as well as Dilshan Gunawardena and Nadindi Udangawa. Speaking at the event, Havelock City Director and CEO Pravir Samarasinghe stated: “The squash court is now open to our Havelock City residents as well as the public. The air-conditioned courts are built to the highest international standards and we are pleased to provide this facility to the squash community in Sri Lanka.” The squash courts joins a host of exciting amenities offered at the clubhouse, ranging from swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, gymnasium, pool bar and bistro, movie and karaoke lounge, and three lush banquet halls to host events, training programs and conferences. Built on 18 acres of land in the heart of Colombo, Havelock City, upon its completion, will consist of eight luxury residential towers, retail and office space, and a 7-acre landscaped roof garden. The clubhouse, which extends over 55,000 sq. ft, is nestled in the lush garden of Havelock City bringing forth picturesque views and creating an ideal setting to relax, unwind and entertain friends and family. Havelock City’s clubhouse is centrally-located, providing ease access to residents from each tower through the lush green gardens. The two new towers from Phase 2, Layards and Davidson, which are scheduled to be completed in October, are almost sold out and consist of more than 200 spaciously-designed two- to four- bedroom units and select penthouses. Phase III of Havelock City, the Stratford and Melford Towers, was launched this year with over 25% already sold out.
