Thomian dashing Winger and leading try scorer, Naveen Henakankanamage will lead the Sri Lanka Under 18 Sevens outfit at the Asian Schools Rugby Sevens Championship 2016 which will take place in Hong Kong from 21 to 24 July.
A total of 60 players were in the initial pool of 60 being reduced two days back to 21. The final touring 12 will be selected by 18 July by the Selection Committee Head, Michael Jayasekera and his team. Naveen will have Isipathana centre, Sumudh Rankothge as his deputy on tour. The outfit is coached by former Zahira, CR & FC and Sri Lanka Sevens player, Mohamed Mushaq.
Pool A- Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, India, China
Pool B-Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Magnolia, Sri Lanka

Former Isipathana, Police SC, CH & FC, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka Sevens rugby captain, Sudath Sampath, was appointed as the Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Women’s sevens outfit plus Sri Lanka National Men’s Under 20 rugby sevens teams.
Sampath, who was one of the best scrum half’s from Isipathana could, be named as one of the top three sevens players to come out for the Tuskers. Sampath who is the present CH & FC Assistant Coach is level 2 qualified from World Rugby.
Sri Lanka Under 20 men’s sevens outfit will be selected shortly for the two leg event in Malaysia and Hong Kong. The Malaysian leg will take during the last weekend of July. Meanwhile the Women’s Asian sevens will kick off in Hong Kong and later move to South Korea and a Colombo leg.
