The second and final rounds of the Pin Fernando Grand Prix for July were held at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) in Kandy yesterday (2), with both the main event and the B division teeing off amidst fair weather.
The main event saw VGCR’s P. Hemantha lead the day with scores of 75, 80, 74 and 73 to end up with a final score of 302 to take the win. N. Ranga came in a close second with 309 points after going through the day with scores of 75, 76, 79 and 79. VGCR’s Vijitha Bandara followed in third place with just two points behind Ranga, scoring 76, 76, 81 and 78. In the B division playoffs, Sanathchandra from the Sri Lanka Army took the top honours with a final score of 340, having played some decent rounds and amassing scores of 87, 80, 88 and 85. VGCR’s Ilay Raja came in just eight points behind Sanathchandra, ending up with 348 to take second place. Third place went to another VGCR golfer, Dinesh Raja, who ended up a mere three points behind his compatriot and namesake.
