Heshan comes second in heats but fails to qualify for next round

Sri Lanka’s Heshan Unamboowe came second in the heat one of the Olympic men’s swimming 100m backstroke heats with a time of 57.94 seconds at the 2012 London Games on Sunday at the Aquatics

Centre, but failed to qualify for the next round.

In the heat 1, Barbados’ Bradley Ally came first with 56.27 but failed qualify for the next round whilst Zambia’s Zane Jordan came third with 58.77.

Apart from Heshan, Bradley too didn’t qualify for the next round for which among top three were US’ Mathew Grevers with 52.92 seconds, followed by China’s Cheng Feiyi (53.22) and US’ Nicholas Thoman (53.48). The last in the list of 16 qualifiers Spain’s Aschwin Wildeboer had a timing of 54.36 seconds.
