HFC shines at All Island School Games

Three school girls from Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, namely Koshila Amarasinghe (Athletics), Manthila Gallassage and Dilumi Goonewardena (Basketball) hogged the limelight in the field of Sports.

Koshila Amarasinghe was placed 1st in the U-17, high Jump event, clearing 1.58 meters, at the recently concluded 26-05All Island School Games 2016, held at Bogambara, Kandy.

Manthila Gallassage and Dilumi Goonewardena were selected to represent the National Youth Basketball Team at the U-18 Asia FIBA Basketball Championships to be held from 13 to 20 November in Thailand.

Manthila was named as the Vice Captain of the team.

Manthila and Dilumi were selected from a pool of 80 players, after three vigorous rounds of selection. This is the second year they will be representing the National Youth Basketball Team.

In addition Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya, emerged champions in the MAGIS Trophy 2016 –Inter School Basketball Tournament U 14 category on 16 October 2016 held at the Jesuit Youth Center, St. Xavier Residence Akkarapanaha, Negombo.

The team comprised Onella Dunuwilla – Best offensive player, Shonali Dharmasena – most valuable player, Amandha Wanduragala, Juanna Sylvarine, Supuli Obeysekara, Venica Fernando, Venara Jayasundara, Ariana Perera, Shanela Fernando and Kishuri Reiss.
