A high-powered Chinese Wushu delegation, including Assistant Minister of Sport and Vice President of Chinese Olympic Committee Gao Zhidan, Chinese Wushu Association (CWA) President Zhang Qiuping arrived in the island yesterday (26) on the invitation of Wushu Federation of Sri Lanka. Also in the delegation are CWA Taolu (Routine Event of Wushu) Department Director Jin Xiaobing, CWA Foreign Affairs Director Zeng Fang, and Assistant to Minister Gao Zhidan, Qin Zenming.
During their visit they will hold a meeting with Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara who was a prominent Wushu player during his school days with Director General of Sports K.D.S. Ruwanchandra and Ministry Secretary D.M.R.B. Dissanayake.
Chinese Wushu Association hope to assist Sri Lanka to develop Wushu at National and school levels and will offer coaching and other infrastructure facilities for the island nation’s players and coaches. Also they will sign an agreement with Wushu Federation of Sri Lanka (WFSL) for offering Duan System to Sri Lankan coaches, said WFSL CEO Manel Dharmakeerthie.
“The Chinese Wushu Association always have come to assist us in the past and we have received a lot of support from CWA. We warmly welcome them to Sri Lanka,” he added.
