HNB ‘A’ wins Sri Lankasports.com interbank Netball Championship 2013

Hatton National Bank (HNB) ‘A’ team won the inaugural Sri Lankasports.com interbank Netball Championship 2013, which concluded at the St. Joseph’s College indoor stadium recently. They outclassed Nations Trust Bank at the Grand Finals by 57 goals to 19. Hatton National Bank ‘B’ team won the third place by beating Commercial Bank by 13 goals to 11 at the third place play off.

Hatton National Bank ‘A’ secured their position in the grand final after beating Commercial Bank by 27 goals to six in the first semi final and Nations Trust Bank beat Hatton National Bank B in a thrilling second semi final by 17 goals to 14.

11 prestigious banks in Sri Lanka took part in the Sri Lankasports.com interbank Net ball Championship 2013 which was organised by the Sri Lanka’s first sports website Sri Lankasports.com for the first time. Director General of Sports Ranjani Jayakody graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Netball federation of Sri Lanka President Victoria Lakshmi was also present.

Sri Lanka’s premier Sports Channel Carlton Sports Network (CSN) televised the entire event and will be telecast in full in a future date. This event goes to the history as the first ever Netball tournament which was fully televised and broadcasted.
