Ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the members of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Match Referees had a successful ‘innings’ at the Emirates Aviation College – Crew Training facility, during their training in Dubai last week.                                                     Drawing parallels between the qualities required by Cricket’s elite match officials and Emirates cabin crew such as leadership, teamwork, attention to detail and a passion for excellence, the training college provided a unique backdrop to bring these elements to life. “There is a lot of synergy between Emirates and the ICC – both organisations have a strong focus on preparations, consistent service delivery and a professional team approach,” ICC Umpire Performance and Training Manager Simon Taufel said. “Preparing for the World Cup in such a unique environment really brings to life the high standards and principles that the top umpires in the world aspire to showcase. “It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to highlight the depth and diversity of the training we offer our cabin crew, and draw links between the high standards that both ICC and Emirates hope to achieve. Seeing the enthusiasm and appreciation of such a distinguished and professional group of people, in the training that we provide our crew, has been very gratifying,” said Crew Training Senior Vice President Catherine Baird. With nearly 120 new cabin crew joining weekly and over 19,000 existing Emirates crew returning for training every year, the Dubai-based training college is a state-of-the-art facility. Emirates’ crew participate in a variety of training modules from Safety and Emergency Procedures, Medical and Security, to Service, Leadership, and Image and Uniform. They are all designed to create an exceptional in-flight experience for Emirates customers.
