Sri Lanka’s iconic cricket sensation Kumar Sangakkara is expected to be a key draw at the Royal College Class of 72 organised “excellence in Action 2013” forum to be held tomorrow (Wednesday 13 February) from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30.p.m. at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand.

Aimed at encouraging leadership and success in the corporate sector, the forum’s other speakers include MAS Holdings Group Director Dian Gomes, Jetwing Hotels Chairman Hiran Cooray, HNB Managing Dircetor Rajendra Theagarajah, and FORESEC Academy CEO Dr. Desmond Denendran Alexander. Ecolap Sri Lanka Director Operations and Scuba diver Naqeeb Hussain and fellow diver and John Keells Stock Brokers Investment Advisor Asmath Iqbal will also share real life experience – survival in tough times. The duo were among the four divers rescued after a grueling ordeal having braved the ocean and its denizens for over 24 hours in the high seas of Mount Lavinia in November 2012.

Sangakkara, a former captain of the national team recently came under spotlight for scoring 10,000 test runs equaling that of the game’s greats Brian Lara and Sachin Tendular.

Kumar also made a mark with his outstanding oration at the Sir Colin Cowdry memorial in London last year. Kumar’s voluntary stepping down from captaincy after the World Cup showed how much he cared for the continuity of the game. “Hitherto we’ve had captains being dragged away from captaincy screaming and yelling. Not so with our worrier. He showed the entirety of Sri Lanka that he left when people asked why he was leaving and not when,” quipped a cricket commentator.

A spokesman for Royal College Class of 72 said the group was proud and privileged to have Kumar to share his insights to on surviving through tough times and how as a leader taking decisions at the forum on ‘Excellence In Action.’

Close encounters with these distinguished personalities at the forum will undoubtedly impact on the positive attitudes of the participants and inspire them to exhilarate in the personal experiences of these Leaders and instill in them forever the indomitable ‘can-do’ spirit.
