Inaugural TPT Hockey Carnival by old boys of S. Thomas’, St. Peter’s, Trinity College

The past hockey players of Trinity College, St. Peter’s College and S. Thomas’ have rallied together to organise a Seven-a-Side hockey tournament between the three schools. All three schools have played hockey for decades and have produced national players. The TPT hockey carnival is organised for the well being of hockey as a sport and to maintain stronger ties between the three schools. They are planning to have it as an annual event hosted by one of the sponsoring schools. This year S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia will be hosting. This annual event will be a reunion of past hockey players from the three schools and also an old boys get-together. As a CSR project, they are planning to sponsor three hockey players from each school in order purchase hockey equipment. They have organised food and recreational stalls for families and children of the old boys to make it a fun filled family event. 

The tournament will be conducted in four age categorises, namely – 1st XI team from all three schools, 20 to 30, 30 to 40, 40 and over age category. It will be a very rare occasion where hockey players of the three schools who are over 40 will be participating in this hockey carnival. They have organised trophies to be presented for each age category, the 20 to 30 trophy is donated by Mario Joseph & Godwin Solomons , the 30 to 40 challenge shield donated by the Old Trinitians Sports Club and the over 40’s challenge shield is donated by Dr. Sarath de Alwis-Seneviratne. The special TPT trophy donated from the past hockey players of all three schools and will be presented to the 1st XI winning team along with certificates.

A press briefing will be held on 8 September (Tuesday) at MCA Conference Room, Colombo 7 at 6:30 p.m.

The inaugural Hockey Carnival is on 12 September at St. Thomas’ College small club grounds, Mt. Lavinia commencing from 8:30 a.m.
