India drops ‘Big Guns’ from World Cup squad

MUMBAI: India dropped veterans Virendra Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh from the squad of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand, ARY News reports. It should be noted that all the above mentioned senior players had played a big role in the 2011 edition of the mega event which India had won at home. Opening batsman Gautam Gambhir was the highest scorer in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. It should be noted that none of these senior players have been representing their country in the recent cricketing series. Yuvraj returned to international cricket in the World Twenty20 2012 in Bangladesh after battling cancer. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are the only players from the 2011 team to be included in the 2015 squad.
