By Shamseer Jaleel Defending inter club league champions Navy SC, Former league champions Kandy SC and ‘Dark Horse’ of the tournament Army SC all are leading their way for honours at  the Inter Club league rugby tournament. All three teams are dropping one game and going ahead for the sixth week with much hope for their future in the domestic rugby arena. When one compares the three teams and the matches left for each of the three teams in the initial round (Navy SC, Kandy SC and Army SC), Navy will have one easy outing against Air Force but left with Army SC and Havelocks SC both should be tough outings for the Sailors.

 Kandy beats Hambantota Sharks

Kandy continued its winning form when it beat Hambantota Sharks by 34-21 despite being minus five of their regular players. Kandy also secured a bonus point in the contest played at Beliatta.
On the other hand Army SC will need to deal with Navy SC in a grudge battle along with their next two games against Havelocks SC and Hambantota Sharks. Kandy SC who looks solid after their win against Navy SC will have two tough games but both at their home grounds at Nittawela against Police SC (7 December) and CR & FC (14 December). Their only away game will be against CH & FC. Beating Kandy in Kandy is a dream for any team and their home record looks very strong in front of their strong home crowd where each home matches having a sell-out crowd more than 5000. After week number 5 the only shock provided was by the ‘Cops’ who outclassed CR & FC in their home grounds and humiliated them by 44/21. Police After dropping two games down to Navy SC and Havelocks SC looks strong to make a come-back with their superior Fijian sevens stars in their starting line-up. Meanwhile Navy SC easily beat CH & FC 24/8 but lost out on the bonus point as they failed to secure four tries under their belt. Havies went on to beat Air Force 34/5 who is the only side left out without any overseas players. Kandy SC will be at full strength when they hire one of the top Tongan Winger who is playing club rugby in Japan at present.
