Sri Lanka’s leading motor racing team EZY Racing, which revitalised the motor racing industry in the country, received a major boost in vision to take Sri Lankan motor racing to the international arena, when Dubai-based Interactive Group signed EZY Racing’s very first international partnership, becoming the International Principal Partner of the Black and Red Team. Incorporated in 2010 and the brainchild of its current CEO and Team Principal Shafraz Hamzadeen, EZY Motor Racing Corporation (a subsidiary of Singapore-based diversified EZY Corporation) is Sri Lanka’s very first and to date only professional motor racing company set with a vision to take Sri Lanka into the world map of motor racing. Having set up a motor racing team that’s represented by the best drivers, EZY Racing has today grown to become Sri Lanka’s leading motor racing brand with over 100 podium finishes, thereby becoming the country’s most coveted motor racing team Its latest tie-up with the Dubai-based telecommunication and technology enablement giant, the Interactive Group, will further boost the motor racing company’s vision of becoming an international racing icon. “Today marks a very special day for us at EZY Racing. It’s a day that we embark on a whole new journey to a whole new terrain. When we started way back in 2010, we set on a path that was new to Sri Lankan motor sports, by introducing the team motor racing concept. It was a well-planned strategy whereby motor racing could become a sustainable and profitable sport, a structure that is adhered to by international motor racing teams. Within the last four years of our operations, we started achieving way more than any other motor racing team would have possibly achieved in the history of motor racing in Sri Lanka. We drew great inspiration from this and decided to accelerate on the plans that we laid to become an international motor racing brand. Our partnership with the Interactive Group, therefore, has great significance, as this without doubt would be the very first time that a Sri Lankan-based motor racing team has been successful in partnering with an international company. This  partnership not only provides a great footing for us to confidently venture into the international motor racing arena, it also provides us with a greater sense of satisfaction and confidence as it endorses  the acceptance of the brand EZY Racing,” said Hamzadeen. The Dubai-based Interactive Group is the leading ICT provider in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and provides a vast portfolio of products and services in the ICT domain to the public and corporate sectors in the region. Interactive traces its heritage back to nearly three decades of technology leadership in Pakistan, where Interactive undertook large telecommunications infrastructure projects like establishing Paktel Ltd. with cable and wireless, the first nationwide VSAT networks for the public sector, the first free to air TV channels over satellite, as well as the National Police ICT infrastructure building a number of data centres, thereby establishing a public safety network that interconnects all the police stations in Pakistan. Today the Interactive Group has deployed its healthcare solutions in over 50 hospitals catering for over 11 million patients annually. The Interactive Group’s ultimate purpose is ‘to solve pressing issues of society’ by leveraging technology to address the challenges of the 21st century. Commenting on this partnership, Interactive Group Chairman Shahid Mahmud said: “The Sri Lankan people have much in common with Pakistan. We have both suffered from the actions of parts of our society that reject progress and economic prosperity; however we have demonstrated our resilience and resolve to face challenges head on. The Interactive Group has a long track record of delivering critical projects and services especially in the healthcare, public safety and enterprise domains that we hope to introduce to the Sri Lankan consumers. Our partnership with EZY Racing provides a natural platform that synergises with our efforts to position our brand as one that is synonymous with passion, leadership and the spirit of competition.” The Black and Red team, which has grown to become a much-looked-forward-to component of Sri Lankan motor sports, is renowned for its superbly designed cars which give priority to partnership visibility. Speaking further on his team’s approach on partnerships and their conscious decisions to encourage non-motor-related brands and products to partner with the motor racing team, Hamzadeen said: “When we entered the motor sporting business, many race drivers were being sponsored by brands that were in some way or the other related to automotives. We realised the importance of breaking this thought process if we were to make our journey a success. In our journey to date we have been very careful in how we got about sourcing our partners. We consciously stayed away from partnering with motor-related products to prove this point. Today, one of our most significant achievements is the fact that barring our lubricant partner, every other partner of ours is totally unrelated to motoring. This stance has helped develop confidence amongst our partners that non-motor-related brands could achieve a lot by partnering with motor racing. Our newest partnership with Interactive only further substantiates our conscious stance. We are proud of ourselves that despite all odds we have been able to adhere to this decision and we believe the results for the years of hard work that we have put in are finally bearing fruit.” The EZY Racing cars and their new livery will see a significant branding space allocated to the Interactive Group as it sets about providing its newest partners  due prominence. In addition, the Interactive Group will also be provided clear visibility on EZY Racing’s international motor racing involvements which are scheduled to be rolled out in 2014.
