The last week of the group matches will be played from today with the pick of the game between the two unbeaten teams, Isipathana and Science, clashing in one of the important encounters. This will decide the group leaders. On performance the Havelock Town lads hold a slight edge over their opponents who are the ‘Dark Horse’ of this year’s Singer league 2016.

St Joseph’s College after their excellent performance last week against Royal will come out with full confidence to knock out the wooden spoon outfit in the group, D.S. Senanayake College who are yet to register a win in this Singer league 2016 are very likely to be demoted.

Unbeaten Thomians will be up against Wesley this will not be an easy outing as the Wesley team too having performed well losing out to Trinity and Royal by very close margins (below five points). A win for the Mount Lavinia school will give them the top position.

Peter’s will be all out to secure number three position in their group behind Isipathana and Science when they lock horns with the Rajans. Rajans too will be likely to be featuring in the Plate championship along with Kingswood from their group. D S Senanayake and either Joes or Wesley will play in the Plate segment. Antonians will be out for their second win when they clash with home town rivals Kingswood. A win for the Antonians will give them number 4position plus their second round opportunity to participate in the Cup segment.

Meanwhile the 72nd Bradby Shield encounter between Trinity and Royal will take place at the Royal Sports Complex on 30 April. A win here will give the team second place in the league.

Second round will feature the top four teams from each group playing each other in cross group competition. Total points earned in the first round will be carried forward. Isipathana is favoured to take the Singer league 2016.
