John Keells excels at Mercantile Badminton

The John Keells Group emerged overall Runners-up for the first time at the Mercantile Badminton Team Championships held recently at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia.

It was a significant moment for John Keells Badminton as the team emerged overall runners-up by a mere point losing out to HNB - a badminton powerhouse which includes national players in their contingent. John Keells also surpassed the past overall champions Seylan Bank.

 

John Keells won the Women’s B, E and the Veterans Divisions with John Keells players being adjudged the best player in each of these three Divisions. John Keells also were runners-up in the Men’s D division and came 3rd in the Women’s C Division and in the Men’s Veteran’s Division.

The final overall results were: HNB - 116 points, John Keells Group - 115 points and Seylan Bank - 113 points.
