Junior Open Golf Championship Nigel Fernando wins Bronze division

The 10+and below age group category (Bronze division) concluded after day two of the championship which is currently being played at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, Colombo. Nigel Fernando of USA sparkled to clinch the win playing consistent golf over two rounds with total score of 92 and coming second was C.D.M.

Hirushan with 98. With both Kiran and Arvind having same aggregate score of 106, Kiran Muthukrishna came third on better second days score from Arvind Hirdramani of Colombo International School who had to settle for fourth place. Much promise was seen in this division and sure to see budding national golfers in the future.

In the main event Sri Lanka Junior Golf championship Sachin De Silva of British School  leads by 13 shots with a total score of 151 followed by Chalitha Pushpika at 164. Close on their heels is Zaffar Sikkandar at 165 and Shamani Jagoda only girl to show class at 172.  

Silver Division (11-14 years age group category) Prashan Peiris played brilliant golf over two days to take 13 shot lead over Ishira Fernando at 166. G. Dhanaraja also played consistent golf over two rounds lying third with 189. The three-day Sri Lanka Junior golf Championship was sponsored by ‘Prima Sunrise Bread’ and organised by the Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU) and will conclude on Friday with the gala awards ceremony.
