Kandurata Umbrellas beat CDB Bank by 17 points to five to carry away the Bowl Championship of the Mercantile Rugby Sevens at the CR&FC grounds last Sunday. On their way to the finals, Kandurata Umbrellas beat Commercial Bank 22-nil in the semi-final. Commenting on their victory at the maiden appearance in the Bowl championship, skipper of the Kandurata Umbrellas team Shiwanka Eranga said that the hard work and dedication of all team players made this victory possible. “We are truly happy for being able to win the Bowl Championship in our first appearance in the category and the second year at Mercantile Rugby Sevens,” he added. The tournament dished out some exciting sevens rugby during the weekend and the final day attracted large number of spectators to the ground despite troublesome weather.
