High riding Kandy Sports Club will lock horns with CR & FC at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium on December 14.
Kick-off is scheduled at 3.45 pm
Kandy Sports Club winning four games in tandem and keeping the top slot under their belt gives much more hopes for their rugby crazy fans who met one shock defeat this year at the hands of Army SC. From that game onwards Kandy are very watchful and their Head Coach Johan Taylor a very good reader of the game being more focused and they do not take any sides lightly.
Kandy SC look very strong in their three quarter line. They have some outstanding players under their name. Fazil Marija, who could walk in to any Asian team will occupy the fly half berth. He will be able supported by Gayan Weearatne, Oscar Ouma, Lavanga Perera and Anurudha Wilwara. Wilwara will be returning to the side after his brief injury which kept him out of the Police encounter last week. Ever reliable Nigel Ratwatte will be the full back. Their forwards will be led by Sean Wijesinghe, the hard working captain with lot of responsibility on his shoulders not only to bring back the League but also with the Knock out trophy as well. Their flanker and star player Chris Colette is a doubtful starter for this game as he sustained an injury during the Police game.
CR & FC too posses some outstanding players in their ranks with two classy overseas players from New Zealand. They also have Kanchana Ramanayake, Ashan Costa, Ishan Noor and Rochana Hettiarachchi to support the two overseas players. So far CR & FC having lost two games one too the Sailors in a close battle and the other with Police SC. They are coached by one of the best in the country with exposure here and in New Zealand.
He is none other than Imthisam Marrikar. Imthi played for the champion Trinity 1987 outfit under Tyrelle Rajapakse. After leaving school Imthisam Marrikar played for Kandy SC and then for Sri Lanka team in fifteens and sevens. His last assignment was with the Up Country SC team.
