Kandy Sports Club drew their first encounter with Olymp RFC (Kazakhstan) on their Middle East rugby tour for the inaugural Asian Club champions for 2015. Kandy after leading comfortably 30/18 in to the second half lost their way when the Russian outfit bounced back with some cohesive rugby to level the game at 35 a piece.
Four championship-winning clubs from the most recent respective cross-border or domestic competitions in the UAE, GCC, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan – Abu Dhabi Saracens RFC, Doha RFC, Kandy S.C. and Olymp RFC – will play against each other in order to decide the champions of West Asia.
Kandy SC played minus seven of their regulars who were kept away due to national duty and two of their players (Fazil and Nigel) not in the playing side.
