By Shamseer Jaleel Kandy stretched their winning streak in the inter-club league to five matches when they edged out old enemies CR&FC at Nittawala last weekend. Chris Cloete will be fit for Kandy's next game against CH&FC   The weekend’s action started off with a game between SC and Navy. Though everyone expected it to be a close affair it was all one-way traffic as the Sailors ran away with an easy 48-3 win. This game will be talked about for some time with a lot of doubt over the final result as Army toppled some top sides such as Kandy in their earlier matches. The Sailors led 36-3 at the breather and played without two of their stars, Stefano Cakanavalu and Srinarth Sooriyabandara, who were rested. Army played poorly with their overseas player Pio Tuwai having an off-day. So Navy too move forward with only one defeat against them this season. The Hambantota Sharks recorded their second win under head coach Nilufer Ibrahim when they edged out Sri Lanka Air Force 20-17 in a tense battle. Air Force too fielded two overseas players for this encounter but it was a decision made too late with no effect on the final outcome of the game. Chrs Cloete was missed by Kandy   After their massive defeat against Kandy, Police came back strongly to defeat lowly-placed CH&FC. While Kandy continued their winning streak with their fifth win in a row, their 19-13 win against CR&FC was slightly off-colour. Kandy not only missed out on a bonus point but also conceded first position to Navy. They need to bounce back soon with the first round coming to an end. Their centre Fazil Marija had a grand game, scoring two tries. For their part, CR&FC failed to settle well in the first half. They did well to come back strongly in the second half but it was too late as they ran out of time. Police did well to beat CH&FC 27-17 to secure some valuable points in the league.
