Kandy regional junior open golf championship from 26 Jan.

This year for the first time the Sri Lanka Golf Union is introducing regional junior open’s to be held in Kandy followed by Nuwara Eliya, to foster talent regionally and in turn for representation at national level.

The main sponsor of junior national golf ‘Prima Sunrise bread’ has partnered with the Sri Lanka Golf Union to sponsor the regional junior open’s to be held during the year 2013.

The inaugural tee off will be on 26 January at the picturesque Victoria Golf and Country Club, Digana.

The tournament will be played over two days and will comprise of three age groups namely; age groups 15-17 years (Gold division) age groups 11-14 years (Silver division) and age groups 10 years and under (Bronze division).  The tournament will be open to both boys and girls under the respective age group categories.

It is likely to see the talents of Sachin De Silva fresh from his junior open win, Chalitha Pushpika Harsha Rukman and Sharmini Jagoda battle for supremacy in the gold division.

In the silver division Vinod Weerasinghe, Prashan Peiris, Zaffar Srikkandar and the Godfrey brothers go head to head.
