The Doha Rugby Football Club accounted for the inaugural West Asian Club Rugby championship when they overcame a spirited Kandy 29 points (1 goal, 2 tries, 4 penalties) to 17 points (1 goal, 2 tries), in the final played in Dubai last Friday.
At the breather the winners led 14-12. However, Kandy, led by Sean Wijesinghe, deserve loads of credit for playing without some of their regular players, who were occupied with national duty at the Asia Rugby Championship series which is being held in China, Thailand and Colombo.
