Kandy SC received full points for their match against Abu Dhabi RFC when the host team failed to provide an ambulance for their game.
Kandy’s Assistant Coach Nalaka Weerakody said that it was disappointing that the hosts could not provide such a basic international rugby requirement. The Asian Rugby made a decision to fine the host team and award Kandy full points when the world rugby referees refused to start the game without the basic requirement.
Kandy will meet Doha RFC on 18 September at the Sevens grounds in Dubai where the world famous Dubai Sevens takes place annually. At present Doha RFC (11) lead the points table after their win against Olymp RFC from Kazakhastan. Kandy (10) are in number 2 position. The winner of tomorrow’s encounter will walk away with the Asian Club Championship trophy for 2015.
