Kanrich Finance and MAS Intimates Casual Line emerged men’s and women’s champions respectively at the 5th Mercantile Volleyball Championship 2016 to clinch the Sunquick Cup Super League Championship at the National Youth Services Centre Courts in Maharagama last Sunday.
Kanrich Finance defeated Brandix Intimate Apparel-Minuwangoda 3-1 in the men’s championship while MAS Intimates-Casualline beat Brandix Green Palnt, Seeduwa 3-1 in the women’s championship.
In the Men’s and Women’s ‘A’ Division, Brandix Apparel Solutions, Katunayake swept the board winning the men’s title beating David Pieris Motor Company Ltd. 3-1 and Omega Line Sports Club beat Maliban Biscuits Manufacturing Ltd. by 3-0 to win the women’s title.
This year’s tournament was a memorable one for H. Ishan Wimarshana of Kanrich Finance as he was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the tournaments for his outstanding performances throughout the tournament, as well as leading the Kanrich Finance team to a memorable win, which until this year was claimed by the apparel sector.
