Kelani Rangers emerge champions at The Stallions Sevens in Sabaragamuwa

The home side Kelani Valley Rangers ‘A’ took top honours at the recently concluded Sabaragamuwa Inter Provincial Club Sevens tournament which

was sponsored by the Carlton Franchisee the Stallions. The franchisee together with the Sabaragamuwa Province Rugby Union also recently hosted a successful U19 Sevens Tournament in the district. With eight teams participating, it was a home affair in the Cup Final with the Rangers ‘A’ side, led by NalinSirisena, beating the Rangers ‘B’ side, led by Asanga Kumara, with a score of 19 - 12. Other results from the tournament were: Plate Champions – Kegalle RFC Plate Runners Up – Eheliyagoda RFC Bowl Champions – Thalduwa Buddhist “A” Bowl Runners Up – Thalduwa Old Buddhist Shield Champions – Sabaragamuwa University Shield runners up – Zahira – Mawanella Invitation Ladies Match Winners – Sri Lanka Navy “A” Invitation Ladies Match Runners Up – Sri Lanka Navy “B” Sabaragamuwa Stallions is directed by NSports which is a national franchise of Sri Lanka’s elite Rugby 7s competition, The Carlton Rugby 7s. The team

emerged as champions of the 2013 Colombo leg of the tournament. The franchise is owned by Royal Ceramics PLC.
