The third Tri-Annual Inter-Church Games concluded on Saturday 25th April 2015 at the P Sara Oval with Kings Revival Church being adjudged overall champions, while Colombo Gospel Tabernacle was the runners-up. After 6 days of swimming, cricket, track and field events, a marathon and amazing race, the closing ceremony saw the church led by Senior Pastor Jerome Fernando emerge on top over 21 other teams that took part from around the island.
Held every three years, Inter-Church Games brings together church teams from around the island across denominations in a spirit of unity and sportsmanship. This year saw more than 1,500 participants representing teams from Kandy, Galle, Anuradhapura and Jaffna join hands with teams from Colombo and the suburbs.
Commenting on this time’s games the organizing committee notes, “As we the church got together in unity we saw many changes take place in the country for the better as well. Unity is our strength and we saw it at the games which in turn will spill over to the greater communities. Praise be to God as brethren dwell together in unity God commands a blessing on the nation.”
The overall swimming championship was also won by Kings Revival Church, while the cricket tournament was won by Jeevanadiya Faith Church and the overall track and field championship was won by Colombo Gospel Tabernacle headed by Senior Pastor Roger Koelmeyer. Organized by Enforcers of the Call, the next Inter-Church Games will be held in 2018.
