The Last Man Stands T20 Spring 2017 concluded on Sunday, 25 July at the Thurstan College cricket grounds where Heshan Flexi ‘A’ once again became the Last Man Stands Sri Lanka champions.
Sri Lankan national cricketer Ajantha Mendis was the Chief Guest of the event and presented the championship trophy and a cash cheque of Rs. 300,000 to the unbeaten champions. Nawaloka Group of Companies CEO Kalana Alwis presented the runners-up prize and cash prize of Rs. 150,000 to the Sapper Cricket Club.
The Last Man Stands Sri Lanka Spring 2017 semifinals were held on the same day and were limited to 10 overs due to rain. Both games were very exciting to watch with Heshan Flexi ‘A’ beating Stafford Motors in the first semifinal match while Sapper Cricket Club qualified for the final by beating Colombo Benz in the second semifinal match.
The final match was played between Heshan Flexi ‘A’ and the Sapper Cricket Club with Heshan Flexi ‘A’ opting to bat first and scoring a staggering 187 in their 20 allotted overs against Sapper Cricket Club. Nimesh Perera from Heshan Flexi ‘A’ shone by anchoring the innings with 59 runs. Heshan Flexi ‘A’ dominated the entire game and managed to uproot all the Sapper batsmen for just 58 runs which marked a massive 130-run victory.
