Financial powerhouse LB Finance spread its dominion over to the cricketing field, yet again, clinching the Mercantile Cricket Association’s Annual Six-A-Side Tournament beating the fancied Mobitel in the finals.
The new hero of Sri Lankan cricket KusalMendis who plays for LB Finance but is currently on national duty has been a great influence on the championship winning team which beat MAS Unichella A and JL Morrison on the way to the finals.
Team LB was captained by Lakshan Rodrigo with RajeewaWeerasinghe being his deputy. The winning team also produced the player of the tournament in RanjithaLiyanarachchi who also hit the highest number of sixes of the tournament.
LB Finance has been in winning ways in recent times with its teams emerging ‘G’ Division Champions, T-20 Champions in ‘B’ Division and MCA Six-A-Side Runners Up last year.
LB Finance also sees three of its players in the Sri Lanka Development Squad. They are Sadeera Samarawickrama, Primal Perera and Keshan Wijerathne. Meanwhile, yet another find of LB Finance, Minoth Bhanuka plays for Sri Lanka A Team.
LB Finance considers itself as a talent scout, bringing onboard raw talent and nurturing them in sports as well as corporate affairs. Kusal Mendis was an unheralded young cap when he the company brought him on board.
“It’s an overwhelming feeling to see Kusal turning into a national hero. We saw his talent long before others did. At LB Finance, we have a great scheme in place to nurture budding talent,” said Sumith Adhihetty, Managing Director of LB Finance.
