LB Finance meets Assetline Leasing in MCA 25-over G Division Final

L B Finance “B” with a well balanced outfit will go out firm favorites when take on the gritty, Assetline Leasing Co. in the 04th Stafford Motor Co. Ltd., sponsored “Honda” Challenge Trophy, MCA “G” division 25–Over League Tournament Final, on Saturday, 16th August, at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10:00 am.
LB Finance “B” finished on top of Group “E” after their group stage matches with 07 wins out of 07 matches, beating Coca Cola Beverages by 08 wickets, Bharti Airtel by 07 wickets, Butani Capital by 93 runs, MBSL Insurance “B” by 112 –runs, Toll Global by 33-runs, Asiri Hospitals by 04 wickets and Deutsche Bank by 30 runs.
In the elimination stage, LBF “B” had comfortable wins against Hirdaramani’s by 80-runs (Pre Quarter finals), Lankem Ceylon by 42 runs (quarter finals) and Star Lanka shipping by 68 runs (Semi Finals)
Assetline Leasing finished 2nd in Group “H” with 05 wins and 01 no-result; Their wins were against, Janashakthi Insurance “B” by 04 wickets, Pearson Lanka by 07 wickets, HNB Assurance by 01 wicket, Tech –One Global by 133 runs & Nor –Lanka by 45-runs; the no-result was with Star Lanka Shipping.
In the knock-out stage, Assetline Leasing dropped a bomb-shell when they eliminated the unbeaten, Group “A” winner, Heshan Flex by 25-runs in the pre-quarter final. They went on to knock-out the Group “B” winner, Amana Bank in the “Bowl-out” contest, when their Quarter final match was washed out. Finally they nudged out the fancied Toll Global team by 12 runs in the Semi Final.
The tournament was a massive operation, having 62 teams including 13 brand new teams, pooled into in eight groups in two stages, comprising 239 half day matches including the Final.
Last Season, Expolanka Group lifted the “Honda” Challenge Trophy, beating Mast Far East by 05 wickets.
