The LB Finance “B” team swept past a number of cricket teams representing several of Sri Lanka’s leading companies, to march to victory in the MCA “G” Division League Tournament, sponsored by Stafford Motor Ltd., and clinch the Honda Challenge Trophy.
The LB Finance Cricket Team “B” was led by Lakshan Rodrigo and featured Charith Fernando, Yasura Warnakulasuriya, Lasantha Perera,Shaminda Mendis, Janaka Arampath, Kushantha Dabare, Saman Disanayake, Sumith Kumara, Charith Gajanayake, Banuka Ranasinghe, Priyamal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dilan Silva, W.M.N. Dhanushka, Gayan Sameera, Amila Jayawardhana, Gihan De Silva, Dushan Malalasena and Yashan Samarasinghe..
The competition’s final was held at the MCA grounds with LB Finance “B” beating the Assetline Group of companies by three wickets. This tournament comprised 62 teams, divided into eight groups in two stages and there were 239 half-day matches including the final.
LB Finance’s skipper Rodrigo was named the Man of the Tournament and also the Best Bowler. The Man of the Match award and Fastest 50 accolade went to Banuka Ranasinghe while Gihan De Silva was given the award for Most Reliable Player.
