Legendary British oarsmen Eric Sims to support Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club

Eric Sims represented Great Britain over a nine-year period. He has won 50 International Gold medals, five Henley medals and 700 Regatta and Head wins. He also coached a number of athletes to represent Great Britain and coached several Henley winners. He is currently Captain of Maidenhead Rowing Club and Head Coach of senior squads. He was employed by Eton College as the General Manager of Eton Racing Boats Ltd. (ERB). The role encompassed all activities in relation to the ERB business including general management, sales, boat building, boat repair, spares sales and reporting to the Eton Board and founded ES Rowing Services Ltd. (ESRS) in 2007. ESRS specialises in providing a comprehensive repair service for all rowing boats. In addition ESRS sells coastal rowing boats and a wide range of rowing equipment and spares. Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club, situated on the picturesque Bolgoda Lake in Moratuwa, established in 2008, is revolutionising the sport of rowing in Sri Lanka by facilitating the Army, Navy, Air Force, Kotelawala Defence University, Prince of Wales College, D.S. Senanayake College, Nalanda College, Mahanama College, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya and many students from St. Peter’s, Lyceum and St. Benedict’s College are enrolled at the BLRC’s Rowing Academy. The club boasts of access to the only internationally accepted two kilometre rowing course that can provide facilities to host six lane rowing regattas in Sri Lanka. The President of Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club Sithira Wickramasekera welcomed the support of Eric Sims and his partner Phil Kemsley to further develop the facilities and coaching skills among its associates and will soon introduce para-rowing for differently-abled people.
