Having first won CRICADS in 2011, Lowe LDB put forward another commanding performance to become the first agency to be crowned CRICADS Champions on two separate occasions.
In this edition of the tournament, held on Saturday 26 October at the P. Saravanamuttu Grounds, the team from Lowe dominated from start to finish, winning all their games in the lead-up to the finals without the loss of a single wicket.
Show of dominance
In the finals, the Lowe team came up against heavyweight Team Triad, who took first lease of the wicket, scoring 94 from their 5 over allotment. In reply, the LOWE LDB innings was powered by opener Asanka Hettiarachchi, who scored an unbeaten 64 to lead his team to victory with 2 balls to spare.
The Lowe champions were captained by Ashain Liyanaarachchi and comprised Asanka Hettiarachchi, Andrew Ebell, Ashan Bandara Herath. Jude Jayaprekash, Ranjani Rajmohan, Lalith Priyankara and Famil Izzeth.
As a further show of dominance throughout the day, Lowe swept the special awards for the tournament as well, with Andrew Ebell named Man of the Series, Asanka Hettiarachchi adjudged Man of the Final and Best Batsman, Jude Jayaprekash named Best Bowler and Ranjani Rajmohan adjudged Best Female Player of the Tournament.
Commenting on Lowe’s victory, the agency’s President Chalaka Gajabahu said; “We are proud of our winning team which was incidentally lead by one of our youngest, Ashain. This is a testament to the strong spirit and a continuing commitment shared by our team as a whole, no matter the endeavour.”
Indomitable spirit
The agency’s Executive Chairman Lilamani Benson said: “Lowe Players have indomitable spirit, whatever game they play. They bring such passion and talent and commitment, so it’s no wonder they often come out on top. I’m so proud of our young cricket team.”
CRICADS 2013 is the leading Cricket Tournament for Advertising Agencies in Sri Lanka, organised for the fourth consecutive year. This year the tournament was organised under the theme ;Bollywood Masala,’ and included a series of Bollywood-themed games that offered fun for all ages. A total of 23 agencies, along with hundreds of attendees, were present at this tournament.
