Lyceum excels at Sam Chandrasinghe Challenge Trophy seven-a-side soccer

The Sam Chandrasinghe Challenge Trophy seven-a-side tournament was organised by the Old Anandians Soccer Wing recently, at the Sugathadasa Outdoor Stadium. 

Nearly 64 schools across the island participated in this two-day tournament.

Lyceum International School Nugegoda got past Carey College Colombo and Rahula College Matara before progressing to the semi-finals where they faced St. Joseph’s Maradana, whom they beat 1-0. In the finals they faced Kottawa Dharmapala School, who they trounced 2-0 to bag the trophy.

Vishene De Silva, who is still an Under 17 player, scored both of the finals’ goals. The match was set for 20 minutes and the captain of the team was Sanjana Gunawardena. The team was coached by Lalith Perera and the Teacher-in-Charge was Malith Achintha Rajapaksha.
