Lyceum Nugegoda Under 15 Soccer champions

The Under 15 Soccer team of the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda emerged International Schools’ Soccer champions by beating Lyceum International School, Wattala 3-2 in penalty shootout in the, finals played at the Kelaniya Foot ball Complex on 30 January.

At the end of the allocated time the game ended in a goalless draw. As per rules of the tournament to determine the winners a goal shoot out of five shoots each were awarded to both teams. At the beginning shoot out Lyceum Wattala led by two goals to nil, but at the end of the shoot of five shoots Lyceum Nugegoda was able to beat the Wattala team by three goals to two.

Lyceum Nugegoda was able to retain the championships for a second time.

The tournament was organised by Royal Institute, Colombo.

Abdullah Faril of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda won the best player award while Duvindu Perera of Lyceum International School, Wattala won the Best Goal Keeper award.

The Lyceum Nugegoda team was coached by Sarath Jayasinghe, Nishantha Silva, Masith Adarsh and Upul Peiris. Teachers in Charge were Supun Kanchana and Chanaka Prasad.
