Nestlé Lanka’s Managing Director, Ganesan Ampalavanar was presented with a special award by the Republic of Maldives Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports Mohammed Shareef, in recognition of the company’s contribution toward the development of sports in the country.
The presentation was made during Ampalavanar’s first market visit to the country as Managing Director. The Minister also presented him with a DVD containing a song dedicated to ‘Milo’, in appreciation of the generous support extended via Milo sponsorships towards sport events, association and clubs in Maldives.
Nestlé Lanka officially took over business operations for Nestlé in the Maldives market in 1998. Over the years, the ‘Good Food, Good Life’ company has deeply rooted itself in the country, winning the hearts of local consumers with world renowned brands like Maggi, Milkmaid and most especially, Milo. As in Sri Lanka, Milo has been an energetic partner in the Maldives sports arena; helping children lead an active lifestyle via strong support of school level sports.
“‘Creating Shared Value’ is the way we do business the world over, where we believe that in order to be successful over time and create value for our shareholders we must also create value for society. As the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company, we are committed to nurturing and empowering healthy, happy and active lifestyles through our food and beverages. We have been nurturing sports in the Maldives over the last 10 years, supporting many events through our world renowned nutritious brand, Milo. We are honoured to be recognised by Maldives for our efforts to help build a healthier generation,” said Nestlé Lanka PLC Managing Director Ganesan Ampalavanar.
