Munaweera scores 50 off 26 balls in Champions League
Dilshan Munaweera, who is currently in India playing for Barbados Tridents in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament, put on a spectacular batting display with a stunning assault on Kings XI Punjab’s bowlers at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Satruday.
Munaweera smashed 50 off 26 deliveries opening the batting in his debut match for Barbados Tridents, and sent a strong message to the Sri Lankan selectors with an aggressive innings that saw the stocky right-hander launch three sixes and five fours.
He got off the mark with a four and a six off Anureet Singh in the very first over of the match and displayed the ability to hit the ball hard, bringing up his half-century off just 25 balls. Munaweera fell immediately after his 50 attempting another big hit.
The 25-year-old opener has only played four T20Is for Sri Lanka after making his international debut in 2012, and featured last for his nation more than a year ago. |
