Manilal Fernando elected to FIFA Executive Committee

Newly elected FIFA Executive Committee member Vernon Manilal Fernando of Sri Lanka has promised to work for the betterment of Asian football.

This will be Fernando’s first stint on the FIFA Executive Committee and he thanked the Congress for putting its trust in his abilities. He received 23 votes.

 “I thank everybody who supported me and they can rest assured that I will continue to strive for improving Asian football,” said Fernando. “Asian football’s time has come and we will be putting our best foot forward.

The elections saw 10 new faces taking their places in the AFC Executive Committee. The terms of all the positions elected on Thursday runs from 2011-2015. (Source : AFC Congress)
