Marvan appointed as the assistant coach of the Sri Lanka team

Former Sri Lankan batsman and captain Marvan Atapattu has been appointed as the assistant coach of the Sri Lanka team.

He will assume the post in addition to his current position as batting coach.

His salary has also been increased to Rs. 600,000 per month with the promotion, Sri Lanka Cricket says.

Atapattu has already worked as the batting coach of Sri Lanka team for more than a year.

Atapattu, 42, played 90 tests and 268 ODIs for Sri Lanka scoring six double hundreds in his Test career and amassing over 10,000 runs over both form of the game.

Meanwhile, Romesh Kaluwitharana will be in charge of training the squad selected for the three day game schedule to be played against Bangladesh commencing on 3rd March 2013.
