Matara and Kegalle triumph at 27th National Youth Sports Festival

The Matara District defeated the Kurunegala District by 28 points to 26 to clinch the women’s netball title at the 27th National Youth Sports Festival, while the Kegalle District edged out the Jaffna District to clinch the men’s netball title.

The Kalutara and Matara districts clinched third position in the women’s and men’s divisions respectively.

Forty-eight women’s and men’s teams representing 24 districts participated in this year’s netball event held in Matara last weekend. The Southern Development Minister Sagala Rathnayaka was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.  

The 27th Youth Sports Festival is jointly organised by the National Youth Services Council, Sri Lanka Federation of Youth Clubs, State Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Policy Planning, Economic Affairs, Child, Youth and Cultural Affairs.
